Mike Nelson - CEO
Mike has 19 years professional programming and project management experience. His focus over the past 13 years has been developing websites and web applications exclusively in Microsoft ASP and ASP.NET. Mike has provided his technical knowledge to many large New Zealand companies.
His experience ranges from games to business software development. Recently he's been developing a web app called SiteManagerNow, which is a booking system for online advertising used by nzherald.co.nz, TradeMe, Stuff and many other websites.
Before starting beweb, Mike was employed at BMC Software providing intranet consulting to Kiwi Dairies. In 1998, he developed an intranet-based global bond issue tracking system for UBS Warburg in London. Before this Mike was a senior analyst at Terabyte Interactive. He began his career in 1991, programming for accounting software company Rees Software. Mike has a BA in Information Science from Otago University.
He started programming when he was 10 years old on a VIC-20.
Jeremy Nicholls - Lead Developer
Most recently employed as a software engineer at Microsoft in Ireland, Jeremy joined beweb in early 2004. His technical skills focus on web technologies such as Microsoft ASP and C#.NET.
Jeremy has 14 years professional programming experience, 12 spent creating websites and web applications. He started out in 1995 as a computer programmer for Kinetic Technologies in the US working for the Federal Reserve. In New Zealand, he was the lead developer at Terabyte Interactive until 2000, developing websites and applications for several major corporates.
Jeremy has a Bachelor in Computing and Mathematical Science (Hons) from the University of Waikato. Jeremy is a Microsoft Certified Professional in C# and ASP.NET.
Matt Kemp - Senior Developer
With eight years professional web design, development and IT experience Matt has gained a wealth of knowledge in internet related fields. These skills range from web page layout and designing customised web-based solutions, to managing large customer databases.
Matt joined beweb in 2007 after nine years in the UK and Ireland. Most recently he worked at QUMAS (in Ireland), a world leader in risk and compliance software. Matt was a key member of the team tasked with development of the front end of the new QUMAS .NET document control product, used by many large corporations including, the likes of Bank of America, Glaxo SmithKline and Fidelity Investments. Due to the nature of the business, Matt is very experienced at working within the Software Development Life Cycyle (SDLC).
Matt’s skills include ASP.NET 3.5 coding using C# and AJAX technologies (including jQuery, Atlas and Rico). He also has experience in classic ASP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
Matt has a Bachelor of Science in Theoretical Physics from Reading University.
Jonathan Brake - Senior Developer
A brilliant Flash developer, Jonathan has 10 years' experience in multimedia and web design and development. His skills include Flash animation and programming, HTML/CSS, Javascript, ASP, ASP.NET C# and SQL.
Previously Senior Web Developer at InterACTION (Netguide best web designer 2004) for four years, Jonathan worked for brands including ASB Group, Mercury Energy, Honda, CAANZ, Film Construction. Before this he worked at The Learning Curve on on-line software training for Farmers, Tower Insurance, IAG Insurance and Westpac.
In 2000 to 2002, he was a freelance Flash developer, working for Saatchi & Saatchi (among other clients). He first met Mike Nelson in 2000, when they worked together on Saatchi & Saatchi's BeatRugby game.
Jonathan's first professional role was two years at Image Centre (now ICE), developing CD-ROMs, database-driven presentation solutions and games using Director.
Jonathan has a Bachelor of Visual Communication from Unitec.
Charles Lee - Designer/Developer
Using both sides of his brain, Charles ably manages to work as both a web designer and developer. His strongest skills are XHTML/CSS, Photoshop and Flash. He is also proficient in ASP, C# and SQL.
In 2006-7 he worked at InterACTION as Web Developer on ASB and Honda. Work included campaign microsites, ASB Careers4U (integration with SnapHire jobs system), a number of banner ads and email templates.
In 2005 he worked at StreamWeb as Web Designer doing design, XHTML and CSS coding, and Flash design/animation/programming. Major projects were Mai FM and Irirangi.net.
Charles holds a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) from University of Auckland and a Diploma of Digital Media (with Merit) from Media Design School.
